Welcome to the Ultrafood candy store. Please step in and see what our android chefs have prepared for you. Years of research and reverse engineering by our best androids, supported by countless undercover operations of our insect drones allow you to bring you the best in alt hip hop haute-cuisine. Not afraid of mixing cultures and culinary influences, Ad Noiseam's Ultrafood division have recruited two of the most forward-cooking chefs of the galaxy. Patrons of the Ad Noiseam audio eatery are already become familiar with Matthew Peters (aka chef Mad EP) through his "When I'm 6" appetizer, "Eating Movies" plat de résistance and "The Madlands Trilogy" magnum opus. Inspired as always, this American chef, newly relocated to the UK, presents a mille-feuille of audio trickery, cut-up, downtempo breaks and his succulent cello. Sharing the kitchen with Mad EP is Raoul Sinier (aka Ra), a Paris-based chef who has already demonstrated his talent in such establishments as Coredump, Sublight and Planet Mu. An amidst connoisseur of rich, textured sauces, uncommon mixture of hip hop, electronica and epic mixtures, this rising name of the audio gastronomy displays with his first 12" plate that there is no limit to the variety of spices he can bring to a dish. Fresh, flavourful and savoury, "Ultrafood" is the meeting of two audio cooks who share the same forward-thinking view on the hip hop recipe, and are not afraid to reshape it from the ground up, frying tightly hacked beats and samples, backing rich, changing melodies and adding clever, tongue-in-cheek vocal toppings. "Ultrafood" is a three-star menu which will leave a long, delicious taste to every palate, may it be human or robotic.

Two years have passed between the release of AZ-Rotator's album “Science of Chance” album and “Freaky Vintage Disco Breaks”, but they have been two very busy years for Uge Ortiz (AZ-Rotator). Besides polishing the four tracks of his vinyl début, he has proved to be a must-have acts for festival all over Europe. From Barcelona's Sonar Festival to Berlin's Transmediale, from sunny outdoor stages in Spain to Germany's loud Maschinenfest, he has demonstrated repeatedly the dichotomy of his project: detailed, subtle and carefully crafted in the studio, but unmistakably dancefloor-oriented and crowd-pleasing on stage. If the previous “Science of Chance” was the fruit of a long, careful studio labour and the accomplishment of a producer with an ear for crystal-clear tracks, “Freaky Disco Vintage Breaks” is its catchier, heavier and dancier pendant. Still razor-sharp, it is a much more playful and radiant release, in which AZ-Rotator manages to marry his hi-fi (or is it sci-fi?) beats with old-school hooks and body-shaking melodies. Freaky and broken in its details but vintage and disco in its ambition and target, AZ-Rotator's new record comes as a much welcome bridge the complex form of IDM and the party function of electronic beats. A highly seductive, catchy, energetic and clever courtesy of AZ-Rotator's electronic wizardry.

AMBIENT ELECTRONICA
9
From its opening salvo of disembodied dulcimer strings reverberating in the air, Aaron Spectre's latest offering appears to be in complete opposition to his Drumcorps personality. But don't let his downtempo side fool you - Lost Tracks is every bit as meticulously crafted as anything Spectre's done, chock full of dense ambient soundscapes, complex rhythm lines, the odd catchy hook, and other sonic treats for the eager explorer. Written in New York and Berlin, the nine tracks span six years of Spectre's musical development – from fledgling DJ to live act to be reckoned with. While not a biographical album per se, listeners can witness the progression of Spectre's trademark style. At times mysterious, even seductive, but more often than not thoughtful and melancholic, you can imagine a 21-year-old Aaron Spectre arriving alone and optimistic in NYC, only to seek refuge from the city in his gear-filled bedroom. In these solitary hours – and ultimately years – he honed his craft the proverbial hard way, tweaking, experimenting, and learning as he went along. The result? From the oldest track, “The Wrong Fuel,” a mournful drone-and-glitch barrage with a nearly unbearably harsh crescendo of distortion, to the newest – and aptly titled – “Dulcimer,” a haunting ambient composition whose translucent harmonies float in the air, the album is as well-traveled as its maker. Glitchy hip-hop styled “Down in the Gutter,” the unexpectedly sultry “Half Silver”, plaintive vocals woven with fragile guitar on “Degrees” – meanwhile, Spectre cements everything together with warm organic layers of sounds, airy reverbs, and dirty broken beats. Far from being the stereotypical electronica collection of tracks with endlessly repeating bars of neat-but-incidental little melodies, within each track is a clear structure and progression. And despite the somber mood of the album, the irrepressible joy of discovery and growing mastery lies buried beneath each track. Includes tracks with long-time collaborator Aarktica, Kazumi, and labelmate Lapsed. Ad Noiseam invites all to roam through this lush album, taking refuge in its secret spaces.

ELECTRO PUNK / ELECTRO INDUS

being a member of the legendary, now defunct german industrial project thorofon, geneviéve pasquier released her first work as a solo artist in 2003. her first record, 'virgin thoughts' caused enthusiastic reactions by both listeners and reviewers. the result was mix of electronic/post-industrial music and 80s-minimal-electro with a frigid but soulful voice. these even tempered tracks attracted a german and international fan base. 'soap bubble factory' is geneviéve's first album on cd - her previous efforts were vinyl only. all 12 cd tracks have never been released and they explore dark, electronic soundscapes ('elements', 'mind-whore'), sensuous industrial tunes ('remember', 'tu es le star') and driving retro-electro-songs ('existance', soap bubble factory'). the vocals are perfectly balanced between being sung and spoken (in english and french) - and there's even enough space left for a little poem! 'soap bubble factory' is a perfect example of an artist converting their roots into something new. if references are requested then there are certain similarities to cosey fanni tutti, caroline k or mrs. arafna / november növelet. geneviéve pasquier is now a name that should be mentioned along with these musicians. packaging: jewelcase edition w/ special paper booklet.
