Horizons Music 92 review

Brazilian wonder Nitri teams up with two of the scene’s most impressive MCs for his new single, the first to be taken from his brand new forthcoming album. HZN092 sees him collaborate with DRS on "Enough's Enough" and Sense MC on "Poltergeist". Plus, there’s another track on the physical release, and a digital exclusive to boot.

* Nitri has had major success with music on labels like Viper, V, Metalheadz and Horizons. His style is serious, musical and innovative, with support along the way from Andy C, Friction, Hype, dBridge and more.

* The new Nitri album promises much, so prepare yourself by checking out HZN092.

* "Enough’s Enough" is both heavy and expressive. The intro will straight up stop you in your tracks, with DRS’s voice filtered away in the mix, dropping in with the beat. The track develops as you listen, with riot noises backing a trickling, ripping drum set and finely handled bass. You won’t be used to this, this is something new. Minimal, direct, but completely essential.

* Watch out for the "Poltergeist" as Sense MC explains. A tale of paranoia and life on the edge is told over sparse, emphatic beats and hypnotic effects. Nitri’s music is always alive, always active, always drawing you into the pictures he is painting. He always does something different, and his talents know no bounds. Darkside bass slides in later on this one, as Sense continues his story, until you are utterly convinced.

* "Torment" rolls along on an early break, employing the funk right from the go. Things lift up later, with Nitri uniting his desire for the new with a deep knowledge of the founding of our music. Raising synths lead the way, as the true flavours win out all the way until the end.
