Fringewhite 04 review

Lurka's Fringe White label dishes up the fourth release, keeping up a 'quality, not quantity' ethos and following the Lurka X Batu collabos with this bumping club tekkers from Facta, backed up with two tripped out reworks from Alexander Berg, aka Dorisburg.

Ditto, and it's subsequent remixes present a slight shift in rhythm from previous records, tinging the 'Bristol' with a bit more 00s Berlin perhaps - but don't be fooled - ultimately it builds on the style of the first three records on the label by continuing to add to a palette of refined, and intricately designed, yet heavy-in-effect club sounds for DJs, dancers and listneners alike.
On Facta's original cut - the mood is upped with a hypnotic, and highly fluid synth modulation that would make Villalobos' eyes dilute, but wouldn't wouldn't go amiss in a UK Funky dance either - This one is really quite addictive, and once it's rolling, you ain't stopping.

Flipside, Facta's Ditto gets the Dorisburg treatment - times two!
The first remix shuffles the rhythm on its own axis and expands on the trip factor, letting the drums work around the filtered o.g. melody, sounding like it all wants to burst from the seams, whilst subtle tension and release is orchestrated by the near-subliminal pads which appear and disappear - leaving space for the main hook and super-glued rhythms to manifest themselves.
The perfect tangle, bound for good via Studer 1/4 inch tape machine.

As the third, and final cut, we get the 2nd remix of the same tune, aptly titled the 'Dorisburg Beats Mix' - Stripping out the melodics in favour of extra percussive elements and heightened dynamics... The end result is a deadly focus on the bare essentials for body-moving.

- Just choose your weapon.

As always: Hand-stamped, served in black paper inners.
Design by Guillaume de Ubéda.
Mastered and cut by Lewis at Stardelta.
