Furtif 01 review

First album from Pushy!, out in 2003. Pushy, originally, was Chris and Yod (from tha VRP). In the year 2000, Yod left the band to setlle his own production-project. Pushy!, allias Chris, turned then into a more "arty" break. Sometime very Core (Hardbreakz raves with various organisations such as ZH Booking or L'Ultime Atome), and sometime very Electronica (Theatre-music, Modern Dance shows...). This album, produced by Ziggy from ZH on her own label, features a melt of Drummy-Electronica and Chill-Breackore. Something really clean that could have been signed on Planet µ or Ant-Zen. Excellent !

Plus de cinq années déjà que Pushy! défriche à bras le "core" les terres experi-mentales du breakbeat.
Au parcours musical irréprochable, ponctué de quelques petites merveilles 12" (on se souviendra notamment
du 'Lavage invasion' ou encore du split Pushy!/Mouse Clinic), le "kid de belleville" (l'autre!)
vient ajouter ce premier long format audacieux a une discographie déjà fort honorable..
Si l'expérimentation sonore est toujours au rendez-vous, Pushy! délaisse les dancefloors saccadés au profit
d'une écoute plus domestique. Toutefois, on y décèle toujours la touche organique et débridée propre a ses
productions. Oscillant entre electro dérangée et drum'n'bass parkinsonienne, cet opus au caractère très personnel,
séduira sans nul doute les aficionados d'une musique affranchie de toute contrainte de format. Une heureuse surprise en provenance du label Furtif, dont c'est la première sortie.
